Rutgers University Flag
The image below represents the official Rutgers University flag design, which was approved by the university in 1965. The script R and crown image are combined with numerals denoting the year 1766 in recognition of the founding of Rutgers' predecessor, Queen's College. See A Brief History to learn more about Rutgers' history and the founding of Queen's College.

This official Rutgers flag is to be flown at the entranceways of university buildings or at special, officially sanctioned university events such as commencement. This flag design is not approved for use in any other forums or under any other circumstances.

The official university flag cannot be purchased by members of the general public and may not be sold to the public by external university merchandise vendors. For information on how to order an official university flag, please contact Trademark Licensing at 732-445-3710, ext. 6301 or ext. 6310.
